Welcome to Tumbleweed Adventure, Tumbleweed's off-site, field trip based program. At Tumbleweed Adventure, campers entering 3rd through 8th grade spend each day traveling to beautiful beaches and local area attractions. Typical Tumbleweed Adventure Schedule:Once Adventure campers arrive at camp, campers and staff join their group and prepare for their day’s adventure. Mondays beach days, Thursdays are generally a theme park day, and the rest of the week consists of trips to nearby area attractions. Unless noted, TW Adventure campers will arrive back to camp in time for transportation home. The Tumbleweed Adventure Program Includes:Click here to view the Tumbleweed Adventure 2013 Schedule. Due to the nature of this off-site program, we reserve the right to substitute activities when necessary. Bowling: For all of our, “Alley-cats,” out there come bowl with us. Campers can engage in a friendly competition with their fellow campers and counselors to establish a the ultimate, “Lord of the Lanes.” Columbia Space Center: Much like the California ScienCenter, the Columbia Memorial Space Center is a very interactive space that allows for campers to design their own airplanes, launch rockets and race their friends, they even have a flight simulator, what can be cooler than that? Culinary Adventure: Spend some time with our camp friend Emily and learn a few tricks and how to make a few treats in the kitchen. Dodger Game: It’s the 50th anniversary of Dodger stadium! Come celebrate this great event with us and watch Matt Kemp move closer to his 40 homeruns and 40 stolen bases goal. Griffith Observatory: Watch some cool videos, look through telescopes, and learn about many other things not of this Earth at the Griffith Observatory. Hangar 18: Love climbing? This is the perfect field trip for you! Hanger 18 has rock walls for every level climber, whether you’re trying to beat your fastest time, or reaching your goal of getting to the top, this is a great way to try something new or show off your expert climbing skills. Hollywood Adventure: Many residents of Los Angeles have never done many of the tourist(y) things that Hollywood has to offer. Come with us to see the Grauman’s Chinese Theater and see some surprisingly life-like replicas of your favorite celebrities at Madame Toussaud’s Wax Museum. Hollywood Aerial Arts: Learn what it takes to be a circus trapeze artist, and test your strength on the ribbon, rings, and trapeze apparatus.
Knott’s Berry Farm: Knott’s Berry Farm adds even more variety to our already exciting schedule for this summer. Campers will get another opportunity to test their nerves and ride some of the greatest rollercoasters in California and hang out with Snoopy and the gang! Long Beach Aquarium: The Aquarium of the Pacific has lots of fun activities and exhibits that show off the thousands of species living in our vast Pacific Ocean. Campers will have the opportunity to learn about how to help with the fight against climate change, feed exotic birds, and even touch manta rays and tiger sharks! Los Angeles Zoo: Come see some of what the LA Zoo has in store and learn about different species of animals by participating in our Safari Scavenger Hunt. Magic Mountain/Hurricane Harbor: For campers who are looking for a great thrill or if carnival’s are more your speed, Six Flags Magic Mountain is a great place to ride rides, get wet, play carnival games, or even participate in a 3 point shooting contest. Miniature Golf: Castle Park in Sherman Oaks is the home of three miniature golf courses where our campers will compete in our very own TWA golf tour. Come show off that swing, and who knows, you may be the next Tiger Woods.
Mountain Adventure: If you have an appreciation for the great outdoors, this field trip will be great for you! Learn some outdoor living skills, take great pictures, and maybe even catch a glimpse of some cool critters, all while participating in some creative outdoor activities with your counselors. Mulligan’s: Mulligan’s Family Fun Center in Torrance, is a combination of all things fun at Tumbleweed Adventure. From Laser Tag to Batting Cages and Go-karts to a Rock wall, Mulligan’s has activities to spark any child’s interests.
Natural History Museum: Not only will campers be able to experience the awesome exhibits like the Dino Hall and new Butterfly Pavilion, campers will be participating in a Safari scavenger hunt to learn about ancient life forms that used to roam the Earth. Imagine what it would be like to have seen a real life dinosaur, saber tooth tiger, or wooly mammoth!
Petersen Automotive Museum: Take a tour with us of the Petersen Automotive Museum, while getting the opportunity to design your own car with your counselors. Queen Mary in Long Beach: This massive ship is hard to miss whenever driving in the Long Beach area, this is the time to learn a little bit of history and take a tour within this place that’s suspected to be haunted. Santa Monica Pier: What can be better than a carnival on the beach?! Pacific Park is home to its famous ferris wheel, roller coaster, bumper cars, and carnival games, and let’s not forget, deep fried Twinkies! Skateland: Groove to the beats of every decade, play games for prizes, learn to skate, or even teach a friend to skate on roller skates or roller blades at Skateland in Northridge, Ca. Sky High: We’ve all had that dream of slam-dunking a basketball. Well here is your chance in Sky High’s trampoline room. Here you can play dodge ball and tons of other games while doing some awesome trampoline tricks. Ultrazone Laser Tag: Come and join us for a day of strategy, teamwork, and glow in the dark laser tag fun at Ultra Zone Laser Tag in Sherman Oaks.
