Teambuilding &

Leadership

Give your students the opportunity of a lifetime on our challenge course.  Perfect for student councils, leadership classes, or other school organizations, our certified facilitators will guide your students in creating new bonds and building strong character.

Group Initiatives & Low Ropes

The day begins with a series of initiatives, challenges, and low ropes elements.  These low-risk, low-impact activities build the foundations of teamwork, trust and communication that will be used throughout the day.  Unique, fun games help break the ice and get everyone talking comfortably.  A progression of more and more difficult challenges require everyone’s input in order to be solved.  Success at these activities puts groups in the right mindset to begin tackling the harder problems ahead.

High Ropes

Now that students have had the opportunity to leave their comfort zone with both feet on the ground, they can now reach new heights, literally and figuratively, on our high ropes course.  Our elements are between 35 and 40 feet tall and many can be completed in pairs, drawing on the trust, communication and teamwork created earlier in the day.  Even if only one student is climbing, the entire group is involved in encouraging and motivating their classmate to achieve beyond what they thought possible.

Processing & Our Philosophy

Tumbleweed Outdoor Education operates with a challenge by choice philosophy of group and individual growth.  Even the smallest steps are encouraged as ways to build character and self-esteem.  After each activity, our facilitators sit with the group and lead discussions on the group’s successes, failures, and ways to improve in the future.  Most importantly, we look with students at how the skills used here can be transferred to the classroom, students’ personal lives, and beyond.

Field trips are available Monday through Friday during the school year.  Tumbleweed Outdoor Education is conveniently located minutes from Sunset Boulevard in the hills above Brentwood.  To schedule a field trip, check availability, or for further information, please call Andy Kimmelman, Outdoor Education Coordinator, at (310) 472-7474 or via email at andy@tumbleweedcamp.com.
