Bring it all outside
While this might seem like a no-brainer, think about the last time you had breakfast or lunch outside with the fam? When is the last time you sat outside to simply enjoy the beautiful weather? By living more outside and among nature, you will notice some pretty awesome results. Stress levels go down, racing thoughts slow, and you become more mindful of yourself and the place you are in. On top of all of this, your brain with become healthier and literally grow stronger. By just sitting for 10 minutes outside, looking around and observing nature, you are well on your way to a happier, calmer day. Take a look at some of the things we think are cooler in the outdoors:
Have a family meal together.
Read and look at books together.
Color, draw, or paint with the family.
Nature Meditation - sit quietly outdoors and see if you can focus on the sound that is farthest away, a nature sound, a sound made by humans, the closest sound, the loudest sound, or a sound coming from an unknown source.
Playing outside doesn't always involve running and getting messy. Bring out the cards and board games.
Find some sticks and stones and even some animal/dinosaur figurines and make mini worlds in the grass.
Tired? Grab some blankies and pillows and take an outdoor siesta.
